{"id":1205,"date":"2017-07-19T21:30:21","date_gmt":"2017-07-19T21:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/blog\/?p=1205"},"modified":"2017-07-19T21:34:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T21:34:33","slug":"tech-worker-priority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/blog\/tech-worker-priority\/","title":{"rendered":"36% of Tech Workers Say Work-Life Balance Is Their Top Priority"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The most important thing about work is that it allows you to have a life <b><em>outside<\/em><\/b> of work.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to the latest reading of an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/guest\/culture\/tech\/all-departments\/100-besides-your-salary-whats-most-important-to-you-about-work\">ongoing query<\/a>\u00a0from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/\">Comparably<\/a>, which asked more than 10,000 workers in tech what they consider to be most important in a job, not including salary.<\/p>\n<p><b>Work-life balance takes the cake<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Work-life balance was overwhelmingly the top pick, with 36% of the vote. Career advancement opportunities (26%), positive culture (17%) and healthcare and benefits (11%) followed next. The least popular of the five options was company mission, with 10% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/guest\/culture\/tech\/all-departments\/100-besides-your-salary-whats-most-important-to-you-about-work\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-429 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/number1.png\" alt=\"number1\" width=\"893\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/number1-300x97.png 300w, https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/number1-768x249.png 768w, https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/number1.png 893w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Age matters<\/b><\/p>\n<p>When you dig down into the numbers, however, it seems the youngest and oldest workers value other qualities more than work-life balance. The 18-25 age group ranked career advancement as No. 1, while workers 61-65 chose healthcare and benefits.
