Sexual harassment by department<\/b><\/p>\n
According to Comparably\u2019s data, 35% of women in IT say they have been sexually harassed, the highest rate of any department. Women in executive roles\u00a0and operations\u00a0reported the next highest rates, at 34% and 32% respectively.<\/p>\n
Sexual harassment rates for men, while at 7% overall, appeared to be prevalent in certain departments as well: 22% of men in legal roles, 17% in administrative roles and 12% in customer support reported having been sexually harassed.<\/p>\n
<\/b>By work experience<\/b><\/p>\n Sexual harassment rates appeared to decline the longer a person spent at one particular company. Rates for workers just starting out at their company were at 16%; rates for workers with a decade or more of experience at their company were at 11%. (Note: This combines rates for both men and women.)<\/p>\n From a diversity standpoint<\/b><\/p>\n African American and Hispanic or Latino workers reported the highest rates of facing sexual harassment, at 19% and 17%, respectively. Rates of sexual harassment were at 12%\u00a0among caucasians\u00a0and 7% among Asians.<\/p>\n By city<\/b><\/p>\n Workers in Los Angeles and Atlanta\u00a0reported the highest rates of sexual harassment (16% and 15% respectively) while workers in Salt Lake City (8%) reported the lowest.<\/p>\n Twenty-seven percent of women employed at technology companies say they have been sexually harassed at work, according to data compiled by Comparably.
