One of the factors that most influences employee retention is the relationship people have with their boss. In an encouraging sign, 73% of\u00a0tech employees say they feel their managers see them as people, according to the latest reading of an\u00a0ongoing query<\/a>\u00a0on Comparably<\/a>. More than 10,000 workers across the technology\u00a0industry participated in the query.<\/p>\n

Admin and legal\u00a0aren’t feeling the love<\/b><\/p>\n

Workers in some departments\u00a0aren’t feeling the love as much as others. Just 63% of workers in administrative and legal roles at tech companies say their bosses seem to care about them as people.<\/p>\n

Workers in HR\u00a0and engineering\u00a0were most likely to say their bosses care about them as people — at 78%\u00a0and 77%, respectively.<\/p>\n

By gender<\/b><\/p>\n

Overall, 71% of women and 74% of men said they felt their bosses cared about them as people. Men in HR felt that way most\u00a0(81%) as did women in product and engineering (79% and 78%, respectively).\u00a0Men in admin\u00a0and women in sales displayed the least enthusiasm for that statement, at 60% and 61%, respectively.<\/p>\n

By ethnicity<\/b><\/p>\n

African Americans were least likely to say their bosses care about them as\u00a0people (67%). Whites and Hispanics\/Latinos showed the highest rates of thinking their boss seems to care about them as\u00a0people (75% and 72% respectively).<\/p>\n
