{"id":1387,"date":"2017-08-22T21:11:57","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T21:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/blog\/?p=1387"},"modified":"2018-04-03T21:53:37","modified_gmt":"2018-04-03T21:53:37","slug":"diversity-career-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/blog\/diversity-career-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"African Americans in Tech Are Least Satisfied With Their Career Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thirty-five percent of African Americans who work in tech say they are satisfied with their career progress, the lowest rate among all ethnic groups, according to the latest reading of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/guest\/culture\/tech\/all-department\/132-are-you-satisfied-with-where-youre-currently-at-in-your-career\">ongoing query<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\">Comparably<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>The most and least satisfied workers<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/guest\/culture\/all\/all-department\/132-are-you-satisfied-with-where-youre-currently-at-in-your-career\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1388\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1389 \" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/08\/lo-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"485\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The query, which had more than 1,000 respondents by the Aug. 22 reading, shows that Asian\/Pacific Islanders were the second most dissatisfied group (42% said they approve of their career progress). Hispanic and Latino workers were most content, at 52%).<\/p>\n<p><b>Women less satisfied than men<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Fifty percent of women and 45% of men said they are content with where they are in their careers, according to the survey. From\u00a0a department perspective,\u00a0women in admin and legal were least satisfied (15% and 14%, respectively), as were men in admin and customer support (24% and 27%, respectively). Workers of other experience levels seemed to be in the same general vicinity in terms of satisfaction (between 45% and 48%).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/guest\/culture\/tech\/all-departments\/132-are-you-satisfied-with-where-youre-currently-at-in-your-career\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1392\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1392\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/08\/work.jpg\" alt=\"work\" width=\"660\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/08\/work-300x65.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/08\/work.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Breakdown by city<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Workers in Boston showed the highest levels of being\u00a0satisfied with their career status (54%), followed next by workers in Denver and Salt Lake City. Workers in D.C.\u00a0demonstrated the lowest satisfaction in their careers, at 37%.
