A person’s satisfaction with their career generally decreases over time, bottoming out around age 51, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query<\/a> by Comparably<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Satisfaction and age are inversely related<\/b><\/p>\n

Workers 18 to 30 had the most positive view of their career progress, though still somewhat dismal: just 50% say they are happy with the course of their career. That number decreases, hitting a low of 41% for 51 to 55-year olds. Workers 56 to 60 are slightly more optimistic, at 48%.<\/p>\n

Satisfaction and education<\/b><\/p>\n

Fifty-three percent of workers with a high school diploma as their highest degree say they are happy with their career progress. That was the highest amount of any education level.<\/p>\n

Workers with “some college” were the least happy, at 44%.<\/p>\n

Workers in Boston were most happy about their career progress, at 53%, while workers in Chicago were least happy (40%).<\/p>\n
