Getting a bunch of smart, motivated people into a room should be an inspiring experience. Too often, it’s not.<\/p>\n

New data from Comparably<\/a> shows that 38% of workers say meetings are just “average.” The data, which comes from an Oct. 16 reading of an ongoing query<\/a> of more than 5,000 workers in the technology industry, reveals that there’s plenty of opportunity for employers and employees to improve the way in which they hold meetings every day.<\/p>\n

A mediocre experience<\/b><\/p>\n

When asked to rate the value and quality of their meetings, people chose “average” as their No. 1 response. The next most popular response was “good” at 27%. Overall, 37% of workers had a positive view of meetings (27% good, 10% great), and 24% had a negative view of meetings (18% poor, 6% horrible).<\/p>\n

Men and women were nearly identical in their responses.<\/p>\n

Executives are happiest about the quality of meetings<\/b><\/p>\n

Perhaps unsurprisingly, those in executive positions had the highest view of meetings at their companies: 55% describe meetings as “good” or “great.”<\/p>\n

Workers in communications had the lowest view of meetings at their company, with 36% of them describing meetings as “poor” or “horrible.”<\/p>\n
