Technical know-how is important, but soft skills are just as essential.<\/p>\n

When asked what soft skill has helped them advance most in their careers, most people chose “persistence,” according to the latest reading of an ongoing study<\/a> by Comparably<\/a>. More than 5,000 workers across the tech industry participated in the query.<\/p>\n

The second most popular response was likability (27%), followed by humility and logic (nearly tied at 15% and 14%). The least popular response was empathy (12%).<\/p>\n

A differing view between men and women<\/b><\/p>\n

While both men and women chose persistence as their No. 1 answer, the groups differed in what they valued least. For men, it was “empathy” and for women it was “logic.”<\/p>\n

The oldest workers know best<\/b><\/p>\n

More workers in their older years chose persistence than any other age group. For example, among 51 to 55 year olds, 41% said they relied most on persistence compared to the overall average of 32%.<\/p>\n
