We spoke to VP of People Operations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/shanemccauley\/\">Shane McCauley<\/a> as well as Total Rewards Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/blthorson\/\">Brittany Thorson<\/a> about KeepTruckin\u2019s approach to taking care of the whole employee.<\/p>\n<p>Philosophically and as a people leader, McCauley believes that HR can do more for companies of any stage or size.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at most organizations, the head of Engineering\u2019s focus is always going to be shipping code first, then building product, then sales,\u201d he says. \u201cHow far down that list do you have to go until they mention \u2018people\u2019 with urgency?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt KeepTruckin we are aiming to facilitate a system that is predictable and transparent so that people can stay focused on their work and do what they do best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cData is paramount to understanding every aspect of this,\u201d McCauley says. \u201cBut I think so often people forget that the simplest version of data is a sentence, or is a word. \u2018How are you feeling?\u2019 \u2018Do you need anything? I mean, that&#8217;s our whole business. On top of that, they need benefits that take care of them holistically,&#8221; Thorson says.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to benefits, Thorsen says that the company\u2019s status as a hybrid remote company has to be factored in. Those are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> Physical wellbeing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> Financial wellbeing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> Career wellbeing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> Emotional wellbeing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> Community wellbeing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cIf all five of those buckets are full, you&#8217;re a happy, engaged, and productive employee, and that ends up helping the bottom line of the business. And what environment are we creating when they\u2019re here? Are we creating an inclusive environment to reward that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thorsen says one of the programs she\u2019s proudest of is KeepTruckin\u2019s partnership with Modern Health: \u201cThere have been just a lot of mental health challenges in the past year. So being able to provide mental wellbeing benefits unlimited via digital courses, coaches, and therapists is great,&#8221; she says, especially in areas of the world where such assistance is harder to find. &#8220;I am very proud that 45% of our global population is actively engaged in this program,&#8221; she adds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24936\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2021\/05\/DSC01247_v2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2021\/05\/DSC01247_v2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2021\/05\/DSC01247_v2.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As far as traditional compensation, many KT employees have learned just what the equity that the company offers means, via a partnership with money management platform Origin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome people just think it\u2019s Monopoly money and don\u2019t understand the real value. Quite a few employees ended up buying homes in the past year. They didn\u2019t realize that it was achievable for them.
