Signing bonus? What signing bonus?<\/p>\n

Seventy-one percent of workers in tech were not given a signing bonus when they joined their current employer, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query<\/a> by Comparably<\/a>. More than 10,000 people from across the tech industry responded to the query.<\/p>\n

An overwhelming majority<\/b><\/p>\n

While most people did not receive a signing bonus,\u00a0the most common amount among those who did was between $1,000 and $5,000 (10%). The least popular amounts were under $1,000 (6%), between $5,000 and $10,000 (6%) and over $10,000 (7%).<\/p>\n

The breakdown of responses was nearly identical across genders.<\/p>\n

The group most likely to say they didn’t receive a signing bonus was Caucasians (78%). The group most likely to say they received some sort of signing bonus was African Americans (56%).<\/p>\n

Out of every department, people in IT and HR were most likely to say they didn’t receive a signing bonus (84% and 83% respectively). People in finance were most likely to receive a signing bonus — 26% said they received up to $5,000.<\/p>\n
