Forty-four percent of people say they would be better at their boss’s job than their boss is, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query<\/a> by Comparably<\/a>. More than 5,000 people across the tech industry responded to the query.<\/p>\n

The data shows that men and women are nearly even in their responses, with 45% of men and 43% of women saying they’d do a better job than their boss.<\/p>\n

Business development most assured<\/b><\/p>\n

Drilling down to a department\u00a0level, people in business development at tech companies were most likely to say they could do their boss’s job better, according to the data. Sales, customer support, and operations also had high percentages of people saying this.<\/p>\n

Thirty-four percent of workers in HR said they could do a better job than their boss — the least of any department.<\/p>\n

Confidence peaks among those in their late-30s and right before retirement<\/b><\/p>\n

Forty-six percent of workers between the ages of 36 and 40 and 51 and 55 said they could do a better job than their boss. The group that was least confident in their ability to do their boss’s job was between ages 41 and 50.<\/p>\n
