They were the generation that grew up on ’80s science fiction films and today, they’re the generation with the most faith in artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

In the latest reading of an ongoing survey<\/a> of more than 1,000 people across the technology sector, those in the 46 to 50 age group had the highest rate of saying they believe the benefits of artificial intelligence will outweigh the risks (70%). The next-highest rate was among 51 to 55-year-olds (65%).<\/p>\n

The lowest rates were among the youngest workers (Generation Z), where 58% believe that the benefits of artificial intelligence will outweigh the risks.<\/p>\n

Engineers are into it; lawyers are not<\/b><\/p>\n

Seventy-two percent of respondents who work in engineering said the benefits of AI will outweigh the risks, the highest of any department. People in IT and executive roles were close behind (68% and 65%, respectively).<\/p>\n

People who work in legal were more pessimistic — just 41% say they think the benefits of AI will outweigh the risks.<\/p>\n

Women not so convinced<\/b><\/p>\n

Forty-nine percent of women said they think the benefits of AI will outweigh the risks, a significantly lower percentage than the 64% of men who say the same.<\/p>\n
