Comfort and Familiarity."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It may be surprising to hear, but your company\u2019s noble mission isn\u2019t what keeps most people coming back everyday.<\/p>\n<p><b>It&#8217;s all about comfort<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Thirty-four percent of workers rated \u201ccomfort and familiarity\u201d as the main reason they stay at their company, according to data by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/\">Comparably<\/a>. The next most popular response was \u201ccompensation and benefits\u201d (26%).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.comparably.com\/guest\/culture\/tech\/all-departments\/79-whats-the-main-reason-you-stay-at-your-current-company\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-571 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/comfort.png\" alt=\"comfort\" width=\"965\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/comfort-300x95.png 300w, https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/comfort-768x243.png 768w, https:\/\/cdn.comparably.com\/00000000\/b\/2017\/05\/comfort.png 965w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The least important factors were coworkers (33%), company mission (13%), and career advancement opportunities (12%).<\/p>\n<p>It makes sense: leaving one job for another exposes you to a whole variety of unknowns. Unless you\u2019re completely miserable at a current job, it\u2019s often easier to stay the course than to shake things up &#8212; though \u201ceasier\u201d doesn\u2019t mean \u201cbetter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>A\u00a0big exception<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On a department level, everyone from engineers to lawyers to IT workers chose &#8220;comfort and familiarity&#8221; as number one *except* those in the executive suite.
