For today’s Culture Showdown, it’s two legendary cult burger franchises with a healthy<\/a> rivalry<\/a>: California’s In-N-Out Burger<\/b> and Texas’ Whataburger<\/b>. Devotees of both chains would happily go to the mat for each chain’s artery-blasting delights, but how do employees of each company feel? Does Whataburger takes as good care of its employees as it does its customers? Does In-N-Out offer any work benefits you can’t get at any regular old burger chain? Let’s look at what Comparably’s employee-submitted data tells us about both companies.<\/p>\n

A Whataburger employee praises \u201cthe culture and the amazing employees<\/b>.\u201d Another says, \u201cI love what my job provides in values and the care they show to new employees.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n

For In-n-Out, an employee writes that the company presents \u201ca fun and positive environment all of the time<\/b>.\u201d Others say \u201ceveryone is supporting and helpful<\/b>\u201d and \u201cThe hard-working atmosphere is incredible and the company does a great job hiring like-minded people.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

Whataburger employees say management \u201cleads by example and show us everything<\/b>.\u201d Another calls company leadership \u201cvery collaboriative and passionate in doing the right thing<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

An In-n-Out employee says, \u201cThe leadership team is amazing. I love all the hard work that is put into this company<\/b>.\u201d Another calls store management \u201cso caring and eager to help me grow<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

One Whataburger employee tells us, \u201cI think I am paid well and actually enjoy my job<\/b>.\u201d Another dissents slightly, writing, \u201cNew employees earn 10 an hour but when I started the starting wage was $9.15. Older employees\u2019 wages weren’t raised.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

An In-n-Out worker writes, \u201cThey pay employees more than minimum wage<\/b>.\u201d Another says, \u201cWe need to be paid more for how much we deal with the stress that comes with the job<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Whataburger employee the one thing the job is missing is \u201cbenefits and perks<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

At\u00a0 In-n-Out, employees are happier: They say that the company \u201chelps you build your 401k<\/b>\u201d and that \u201cinsurance premiums are cheap and good<\/b>.\u201d Also noted are \u201cthe fun parties and paid vacations<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n
