Comparably took a look at both companies\u2019 internal culture scores, which were arrived at by compiling employee-submitted opinions and data. Are employees at Staples happy? Does Office Depot offer benefits? Let’s take a look.<\/p>\n

OVERALL CULTURE<\/p>\n

Despite the low score, Staples employees write that \u201cthe people make it fun<\/b>\u201d and that the workforce is \u201copen and honest with no back stabbing<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Office Depot employee writes, \u201cThere is a mix of different people and we learn from each other<\/b>.\u201d Another says that his coworkers are \u201ctruly a cohesive unit because of the teamwork mentality, but overall morale is low in general<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

CEO<\/p>\n

A Staples employee writes that company leadership \u201cneeds to change<\/b>.\u201d Another writes, \u201cThey need to be open to more outside opinions and views. They are very closed-minded<\/b>.\u201d Another writes that \u201cthe CEO pay gap is among the top ten highest in the country<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Office Depot worker has this advice for management: \u201cStop raising prices, adding new job duties, and cutting payroll. Also, fire your procurement people. If we’re actually losing money on laptops and printers then someone is doing something wrong on the executive level<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

COMPENSATION<\/p>\n

A Staples employee writes that \u201cpay rates need to be better for all the pressure put on employees<\/b>.\u201d Another writes, \u201cAs a whole, Staples pays below market rates for its retail employee positions<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Office Depot\u2019s compensation, one employee writes they are \u201cunderpaid by a lot<\/b>.\u201d Another writes, \u201cI work very hard and do many other people\u2019s jobs, simply because they don\u2019t want to and work has to be done. And I get paid minimum wage for it.”<\/b><\/p>\n

PERKS & BENEFITS<\/p>\n

A Staples employee writes that while benefits do exist for workers, \u201cit is hard to quailfy for them<\/b>.\u201d Another writes that \u201cfull-time should be available to all employees, not just management<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Office Depot worker writes, \u201cThere are few benefits offered here<\/b>.\u201d Antoher says, \u201cAll health and disability benefits are available to full time employees. Not many full timers though<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n
