Mark Seumas McCombe OBE — Senior MD & Head of Americas at BlackRock

Mr. Mark Seumas McCombe, also known as Marc, OBE has been Head of Americas at BlackRock, Inc. since February 21, 2017 and serves as its Senior Managing Director. Mr. McCombe served as Global Head of Blackrock Alternative Investors at the firm since February 21, 2017 until September 19, 2017 and also served as its Co-Head of BlackRock Alternative Investors and Global Head of Institutional Client Business until February 21, 2017. Mr. McCombe served as the Chairman of Asia Pacific at the firm until January 3, 2017 and previously served as the Chairman of Blackrock Alternative Investors. Mr. McCombe is responsible for driving the growth of institutional business and alternatives presence globally. Previously, he served as the Chief Executive Officer at HSBC Global Asset Management for three years. Prior to this, Mr. McCombe served as the Global Chief Executive Officer of Investment Business at HSBC Investments (UK) Ltd. Previously, he served as the Group General Manager and Chief Executive at HSBC Holdings plc. Mr. McCombe served as the Chief Executive Officer at HSBC Private Bank (UK) Ltd., overseeing wealth management in the UK Channel Islands, Luxemburg and Northern Europe, the Chief Executive Officer at HSBC Private Bank (France) SA and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at HSBC Turkey. He held a variety of roles with HSBC in the Middle East and for six years, in Hong Kong, where his responsibilities included overseeing property and construction financing for Hong Kong-based developers. Mr. McCombe first joined HSBC in 1987. He serves as a Non-Executive Director of HSBC Global Asset Management (UK) Limited. Mr. McCombe has been a Director of Blackrock Investment Management (Australia) Limited since May 2012. He serves as a Director of Halbis Capital Management (UK) Limited. Previously, Mr. McCombe was a Director of DSP BlackRock Investment Managers Pvt. Ltd. and served as Director of Hang Seng Bank Ltd., until September 2011. He served as a Director at BlackRock Asset Management North Asia Limited since February 22, 2012 until July 31, 2014. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG. Previously, Mr. McCombe served as a Non-Executive Director of HSBC Global Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. until 9 September 2011. Prior to this, he served as a Director of HSBC Investments (UK) Ltd. Mr. McCombe was awarded the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's New Year Honors List in 2006. He received an MA from Aberdeen University and also attended the University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School, where he completed the Advanced Management Program.
