What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Zinio?
How incompetent upper management actually is. They've long lost their window of opportunity for this product.
How much diversity is there among employees at Zinio?
Little diversity. Zinio wants you to be like them, not different.
How do I do well in an interview at Zinio?
Emphasize that you love to work above all else. Give the impression that you have no other time commitments.
How long do the interviews usually take at Zinio?
Mine took over three hours. It depends on who is available.

Five different people, all different levels. Took a few weeks to hear a response.

Some good, some very irrelevant.

Total chaos. Completely unhelpful
What's the work from home policy like at Zinio?
You can work from home after hours.
Does Zinio drug test or do a background check?
Background checks for regular employees, but likely not for C-level positions.
How does Zinio handle HR issues?
Poorly. There have actually been physical threats made by prospective candidates for C-level positions against zinio staff, and they hired the candidate anyway. Eventually, they fired the C-level person for cause, but it took them years to do it.
How does Zinio measure success and growth in the Engineering department?
It's random. The company is struggling so much with bad product, they don't really care about measuring teams productivity.
What skills do you need to be successful in the Engineering department at Zinio?
Be very driven, and don't make friends. You have to shamelessly self-promote, and you'll advance. Also, have a thick skin. You'll need it to deal with upper management.
How are layoffs handled in the Engineering department at Zinio?
Mass layoffs happen, and they want you to grateful that you get anything. Individual layoffs involve you being watched as you pack, or worse, you're not allowed to pack. You have someone else hand you a box of your stuff. Lovely.

Stick around a few months, and you'll get promoted. Of course, you won't really know the system, so there's tons of stress.
How often do promotions happen at Zinio?
All the time. There is a large turnover, so people with less knowledge end up making decisions that they're not qualified to make.
What perk or benefit should Zinio have?
Actual stock or profit sharing.
What is the best advice you could give someone during their first month at Zinio?
Find another place to work. Seriously, this place is toxic. It's probably much like working for Trump. Led by large egos, with mediocre talent. Pay and benefits are even worse.
