I currently work a shift that most people do not want to have to be on and while we do have a shift differential it is minimal at best.
I love having the opportunity to work for a progressive company that is constantly looking for ways to improve, has a fantastic company culture but most importantly genuinely cares about the patients behind the samples we receive and tests we run.
Opportunities to advance are not distributed fairly when it comes to lead or supervisor positions. These are positions that should be open to anyone interested in applying for them and not merely appointed to an individual based off of seniority or personal favor.
While we did not go through any lay offs during the pandemic, we recently did, unexpectedly have company wide layoffs which was extremely discouraging after having gone through so many fast paced changes as a company together to merely have people let go in the end to "benefit the company".
Taking the last year into consideration, I think we had all hoped for a bit more of a raise this year. Especially since the freezes that were established last year, but I am thankful to have a company that rolled with the punches and found ways to keep from having to do any company wide layoffs.
