The most common reasons in the global support services department: 1.) Management incompetence starting from the VP level down. They have lost touch with the workers they oversee and continue to plug leaks with band-aids instead of fixing the root issues. For an engineer, this is extremely painful to experience because of the lack of understanding, research and attention to detail in order to fix the actual issues. 2.) Top performers being punished for clearing all of their work, then are required to pick up the slack of others (ie: doing the needful) until the management teams push so much load onto them that they can't possibly absorb and are then hurt during the review cycle. These top performers see those that they helped receive larger bonuses and promotions since the top performers have helped to keep their metrics clean. 3.) Underpaid/underappreciated because of VMware's "try before you buy" methodology. 4.) Work/Life balance is non-existent for male engineers and management.
Their is no work life balance in some departments. You end up working 10-12 hours a day and mostly because of inefficient behaviors and tools
Super confused middle management and everything becomes P0 on the last day ... Some bad promotions ...
