It depends on the store manager, I'm a good employee, been there over 6 months, no call outs, never late, work over when needed, and constantly praised on performance throughout the store. I put in for an open position I wanted, no one else put in for it, the assistant manager and department manager have requested me for that department but the store manager refuses to transfer me, always has an excuse, all the while he has given transfers to others and the position remains vacant, I can fill in at times there but that is it. Needless to say I am looking elsewhere for employment.
Walmart will hire from outside instead of moving an existing employee 9 times out of 10 unless that employee is a favorite of management for whatever reason. If you don't play the yes man and brush off the blatant violations of the law and human rights, you'll never move anywhere. They will pigeonhole you with a friendly smile and feed you excuses ad nauseam.
Dept head asks assistant mgr for current employee to be sent to his dept to work daily. Told no employee on nights right now, sent another person. Not fair to employee, unbelievable so looking for another job I thought Walmart wanted to keep good employees not just Amy employee like 10 years ago! Guess I was wrong
If positions open in other areas you are welcome to apply for them but if the position that you currently possess does not have someone to replace you they may tell you we cannot except you for another position until your position gets filled.

Do I have 3 days to switch from a position I don’t like to be able to go back to my old position?
