A culture of meanness, opacity and vindictiveness from bosses and managers means rank and file are no longer interested in voicing their opinions. Everything is now about protecting the bottomline, talent, aspirations etc. be darned.

Talk about problem solving
Be authentic and confident. Talk about your skills and experiences but don’t act like a braggart. Talk about how you’ve worked well in teams. Use “we”. Most people at McK are brilliant and accomplished, and if you make it through to the in person interview, chances are you are too. Have confidence that they will see that in you and don’t oversell. We want smart, interesting people, but we need people who are great team members, and people who our clients will enjoy working with. Emotional intelligence is huge. Most of the people I work with on a daily basis are as brilliant as the are humble. Our values are also very important, most notably personal integrity: so don’t ever lie or exaggerate. Have a great answer for why you want to work here; what you want to learn etc.

I don’t feel undervalued. Part of the “value” you receive early in tenure is unparreled mentoring, and exposure to the decision making and strategic planning of the largest companies around. As you advance past the first few years the comp increases quite a bit. I have no complaints.

Great insurance and learning programs.
What is the dress code at McKinsey & Company?
Button down and denims are perfectly fine at clients. If you are a woman, more choices though.
What should I wear for an interview at McKinsey & Company?
Not very casual. A jeans with button down shift should be good enough. You can go more formal is you want though.
Does McKinsey & Company drug test or do a background check?
Yes to background check, no to drug test. Drug test is only necessary if you do government work and want to get a security clearance.

Pretty flexible. Work from home option is great.

The team was pretty small and approachable. That was 6 years ago. Right now they're pretty large and it can be hard to reach the right team.
