Mr. David T. Turner has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. since January 1, 2011. Mr. Turner has been the President of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. since March 2002. He has been the President of Hawthorn Bank since January 2010. He serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hawthorn Bank. He served as Chief Operations Officer of Hawthorn Bank since January 1, 2010. Mr. Turner served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hawthorn Bank (Exchange National Bank) since March 2002. Mr. Turner served as Co-President of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. From 1993 to June 1998, he served as Senior Vice President of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. He served as a Senior Vice President of The Exchange National Bank from June 1992 to December 1996 and as Vice President from 1985 to June 1992. He served as Vice Chairman of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. from June 1998 to March 2002. He has been a Director of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. and Hawthorn Bank since January 1997. Mr. Turner served as a Director of The Exchange National Bank and of Citizens Union State Bank since April 2002.

Mr. W. Bruce Phelps has been the Chief Financial Officer of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. since January 30, 2012. Mr. Phelps has been a Senior Vice President at Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. since January 2012. Mr. Phelps has been the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Hawthorn Bank at Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. since January 30, 2012. He served as a Senior Vice President and Controller of St. Louis-based Pulaski Financial Corporation and its savings bank subsidiary, Pulaski Bank from October 2009 to January 2012. From July 2008 to September 2009, Mr. Phelps served as Principal of WBP Consulting in providing financial consulting and support services for clients in the St. Louis area. Mr. Phelps served as Chief Financial Officer for Champion Bank, St. Louis, Missouri, from August 2006 to June 2008. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ms. Kathleen L. Bruegenhemke has been Secretary and Senior Vice President of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. since November 1997. Ms. Bruegenhemke has been the Chief Operating Officer of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. and Hawthorn Bank since January 2017. She served as the Chief Risk Officer at Hawthorn Bancshares since June 2016 and served as its Senior Vice President of Investor Relations She joined Hawthorn Bank in 1992. From January 1992 to November 1997, she served as Internal Auditor of Exchange National Bank. Prior to Exchange National Bank, Ms. Bruegenhemke served as a Commissioned Bank Examiner for Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from 1986 to 1992. She has been a Director of Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc. and Hawthorn Bank since March 2017. Ms. Bruegenhemke is a graduate of Truman State University (Kirksville, MO) with a finance degree and of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking (Washington D.C.) She is also a certified public accountant.
