Dr. Marcellino has been a Co-founder and Vice President of Clinical Sciences & Global Advocacy at OptiMedica Corporation since 2004. Dr. Marcellino is a Co-Founder of Sunnyvale. He served as Vice President of Clinical Development at OptiMedica Corporation. He is widely known in the medical community and has more than 25 years experience in the medical device industry, which includes management and director level roles at Laserscope, Inc., Cooper Laseronics, Inc. and Oximetrix ?????? all located in the San Francisco Bay area. Since the inception of OptiMedica in 2004 through its merger with Abbott Medical Optics in 2013, Dr. Marcellino served diverse executive positions including Vice President of Marketing and Chief Financial Officer. From 1988 to 2003, he served senior research, sales and marketing roles at Santa Clara, CA-based Coherent, Inc and its subsequent embodiment Lumenis, Ltd. He has coordinated a variety of research efforts in Ophthalmology, including Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) for the treatment of Glaucoma, Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for the treatment of Exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration and Selective Retinal Therapy. Prior to joining OptiMedica, Dr. Marcellino served as Senior Director of Research at Lumenis. He directed the worldwide sales and marketing organizations and headed the clinical research and development efforts at the Coherent Medical Group. He managed a 100-person sales and marketing team and helped to establish many innovative products including the Novus 2000 Photocoagulator, the Laser Indirect Ophthalmoscope and Laserlink delivery system. He has been Director of IRIDEX Corporation since December 31, 2014. Dr. Marcellino has authored 14 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals, two textbook chapters and is an inventor on four patents. He received his B.Sc., M.S. and Ph. D. in Sensory Physiology and Psychophysics, from the City University of New York.
