Mr. Richard J. Gavegnano has been Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. (formerly, Meridian Interstate Bancorp, Inc.) since 2007. Mr. Gavegnano serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Financial Services. Mr. Gavegnano has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of East Boston Savings Bank since June 2008 and March 5, 2014. Mr. Gavegnano served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. East Boston Savings Bank of Mt. Washington Bank, A Division of East Boston Savings Bank. He served as Acting President of East Boston Savings Bank from June 2008 to January 2009. He served as Acting President of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. from June 2008 to January 2009. Mr. Gavegnano was in the investment business for 37 years with national New York Stock Exchange member firms and retired in 2006 ending his career as a Vice President of A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. He has experience in business development, commercial real estate and investments. He has been associated with East Boston Savings Bank for 33 years serving as Corporator, Trustee and Lead Director. He has been the Chairman of Hampshire First Bank since 2006. He has been the Chairman of Meridian Financial Services and East Boston Savings Bank since 2003 and 2006 respectively. Mr. Gavegnano has been the Chairman of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. since 2006 and as its Director since 1995. He serves as a Director of East Boston Savings Bank. Mr. Mark L. Abbate, CPA, has been the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Strata Bank from 2007 to July 2009. He served as the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and Principal Accounting Officer of Service BanCorp. Inc. since December 2007. He has 30 years of progressive and diverse experience at both large and small financial institutions and in his previous positions has directed general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, tax filings, internal control compliance and customer information and analysis. He served as a Senior Vice President at Meridian Bancorp, Inc. and its subsidiary , East Boston Savings Bank. Mr. Abbate began his career at Deloitte & Touche in Los Angeles and worked for several financial institutions over the next 20 years. He served as an Acting Principal Executive Officer of Service BanCorp., Inc. He served as Vice President and Controller of FIRSTFED America Bancorp, in Swansea from 2000 to 2004. After the sale of FirstFed America Bancorp, Inc. to Webster Bank, Mr. Abbate served as a Vice President, Controller and Manager of Mortgage Warehouse Lending at Webster Bank in Waterbury, Connecticut until 2005. He worked at Resources Global Professionals in Boston from 2006 to 2007, where he provided project consulting leadership for companies in need of finance, accounting and risk management support, including Sarbanes Oxley internal control review and compliance. He has also worked for Washington Mutual in Seattle, Washington and H.F. Ahmanson & Company in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of California State University in Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Edward J. Merritt, also known as Ed, serves as an Executive Officer of East Boston Savings Bank. Mr. Merritt serves as an Executive Vice President of Business Development & Community Relations at Meridian Bancorp, Inc. and has been its Corporate Secretary since 2016. He served as the President of Mt. Washington Bank. He served as an Executive of East Boston Savings Bank of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. since 2010. He served as President of Mt. Washington Bank, A Division of East Boston Savings Bank (a/k/a Mt. Washington Bank) and served as it's Chief Executive Officer until January 2010. During his seven year tenure, he has created a culture of excellence at Mt. Washington Bank both in the areas of customer service, as well as community service. Mr. Merritt served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Abington Savings Bank from 1986 to 1998. After establishing a record of success in the key financial areas of Abington Savings Bank, in 1992 Mr. Merritt assumed the additional responsibility of building Abington Savings Bank's brand in the marketplace which he accomplished by strategically improving its marketing, public relations and retail banking operations. Based on his business philosophy which is that to be a great corporate leader you need to be a great corporate citizen, he founded Mt. Washington Charitable Foundation in 2002. He serves as a Member of the Board of Visitors at University of Massachusetts, Boston (UMass Boston). Mr. Merritt has been a Director of Meridian Bancorp, Inc. (formerly, Meridian Interstate Bancorp, Inc.), since 2010. He serves as a Director of East Boston Savings Bank. A twenty year veteran of the banking industry, he serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of the Caritas Carney Hospital Foundation, South Boston Community Health Center and the Massachusetts Bankers Association (Community Banking Committee). He also serves on the University of Massachusetts Boston's College of Management's Advisory Committee. Mr. Merritt earned his Bachelor's degree from Salem State College and is a Certified Public Accountant.
