In 2001 she was the recipient of the Jorge Heller Journal of Controlled Release Outstanding Paper Award. She received her B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She completed her Ph.D. in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University.
