Pay is below market. The pay is better at other companies for IT positions.
It is very difficult to grow and people are promoted maybe after staying more than 10 years in the company. The leadership in network services are actually engineers promoted as managers. In fact they shouldn’t have been promoted as managers as they are not very people oriented.
The IT department has a top/down mentality and more like a parent/child relationship and this mentality comes from the very top management in IS. The two people that drives this kind of culture is the CIO and the Director of Infrastructure Services. This mentality of the management prohibits growth.
The IS leadership has major trust issues and would not give work to anyone they do not trust. Also the lack of communication from senior IS leadership was frustrating. There is no training provided by the company and they expect you to complete projects with technology that no one has any idea.
