Good to be one of the initial hires. Need to be on "Great" terms with senior management to do well in terms of promotion or raise. Easy to become a part of machinery that can be overlooked and treated without concern. What you are promised upon hire may not reflect what actually occurs once you are there for a year or two. Clients are always right and can treat you rough with no backing by Hyde management.
Management assigns projects without worrying about your preference. If you are a good rower of the boat, all goes well. If you have a bad team life is rough. If the project was poorly bid you must pick up the slack. If the client is difficult or the regional manager is bad, life is difficult. If the stars align things are great.
There is a "haves" and "have nots" culture in the company. You can often feel like a requested tool and not bring your personality. If you were hired in the first five years of the company being formed, and still part of the company, you are family. Tough to break into that inner circle.
