
Yes, usually employees are in-person first and go remote after having worked from an office for a while. I believe there are rules around how senior an employee must be in order to get remote work approved. More commonly, people with long commutes work from home a couple days a week, or employees that are normally in the office will work remotely when they need to be home or when they’re traveling (for work or personal reasons) and don’t want to take PTO.
