He serves as a Trustee of Asia Society and Rice University. He serves on the boards of Greater Houston Partnership, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, Houston Grand Opera and Houston Methodist Research Institute. He served as a Director of Titan Chemicals Corp. Sdn. Bhd. He served as a Non Independent Non Executive Director of Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Sdn. Bhd. Mr. Chao holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University and B. A. from Brandeis University.
