That the pay would be so poor and such little opportunity to grow as a person and into any leadership roles. Its definitely a "chart" your own path environment.

Generally good, there have been high points and low points. There is a lot of potential with new products and projects, and some disappointments when a few clients leave or projects dont work out.

Some, there have been some minorities and women on the team. The company appears to be indifferent to having diversity in it's hiring practices.

Open floor plan, the entire 6 floor of the building, and a restaurant space on the first floor.

Pets (cats, dogs, and fish) are welcome in the office, Taxes done during the season, Dry cleaning pickup, Chiropractor, Massage and haircuts on site. Two catered meals per day. Medical and Dental. 401k, and some may still be able to receive phantom shares.

Pay is well below market rate for San Diego. The company provides a fun environment and lots of perks, but if you add them all up the total compensation is not great. It is also very hard to understand how to get an increase and leadership intentionally keeps everyone in the dark on compensation (what it takes to advance, etc.).

Mostly 8 hour days. Very rarely would my work require weekends or evenings. The environment lends itself to distractions, so most engineers used to wear headphones and stay heads down to get items done. Mob style has some fans and some that feel it's exhausting.

There are a few "Team Leads", and they report to CTO directly. There was a VP of engineering who was not a great cultural fit, he has since moved on. The leadership spends most of its focus on product not people.

There is a fairly flat org structure and currently Mob Programming is the work style. Previously there were Agile and SCRUM workflows. There is an engineering team, and a optimization team. Engineer team members are treated with respect, while the optimization team are more like second class, although very talented members exist on both teams. Work hard, play hard philosophy. There is little to no transparency about what it takes to move up on the team, or in general as an engineer once you make it on the Engineer Team. The two teams communicate well since it is an open office. Since adopting Mop style, not following any of the SCRUM ceremony anymore.

Perks are great, salary is consistently on the lower end of the market.

They invest the time to plan, and are responsive to feedback.

Communication is great, everyone works really hard.
