He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Stepan Company from February 1999 to December 2005. He joined Stepan Company in 1987 after working four years for Monsanto Company. He has been the Chairman at Stepan Company since January 1, 2017 and its Director since 1999. Mr. Stepan serves as a Director of the Follett Corporation. He has been a Director of American Chemical Council since January 1, 2006. He served as a Director of The American Cleaning Institute (known as The Soap and Detergent Association). Mr. Stepan received a BA from the University of Notre Dame in 1982 and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1988.
