How's the leadership on the Sales team at Datapipe?
Some leaders are better than others, some good ones have moved on recently. If you get the right manager it makes all the difference.
What's the vibe like in the Sales dept at Datapipe? How many hours are you working?
Depends...some of us get more leads than others. The vibe is alright, there isn't much culture but people just do their thing.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation at Datapipe?
It's frustrating that every year the benefits costs increase significantly. There is no stock/equity at all and the company keeps cutting.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved at Datapipe?
Tenured employees are often paid significantly less than new employees. They never really bump people up unless you make a huge stink.
Are your sales goals realistic or does it seem like you’re set up for failure?
The quotas are high. We have had some very good results in the past but lately it seems like expectations are too high and the company is consistently underperforming. I think only 2 or maybe 3 reps hit or exceeded quota last year, meaning probably 85% of reps underachieved. I believe it's because the goals are unrealistic.
How easy (or hard) is it to sell the product? length of sales cycle?
It's extremely difficult to gauge how long the sales cycle will last. We have customers that close relatively quickly (3-4 months) and others that drag almost a year or more based on the complexity of the deal. It also depends on the current resource constraints...when they are tight things tend to become extremely difficult to sell and move across the finish line. There are some resources that don't have a backup or 2nd in line so if you can't get them you just have to wait.
do you wish your comp was weighted more or less on commission?

Less on commission. The current commission plans are horrible and they keep getting worse. Others in the industry are put on plans with a 60/40% split and better which really disadvantages us here. I'm hoping it gets better but I'm not confident.

There are too many people coming/going at the company. Turnover is getting worse and it seems like it's always out of nowhere.
