
They make themselves available to listen to concerns. It is pretty easy to get in to see my manager or higher to voice my concerns.
Paid better here than the closest higher education equivalent positions. I'd have to take a big paycut or move out of state.
We have thousands of moving parts and lots of complexity. We manage to keep everything going and humming along with uncommon issues that even then get pretty quickly corrected.
The lack of local comparable jobs allowed management to underpay. We are losing good people to startups because this is no longer true.
Listening to those at the bottom. Open doors are fine, but they should seek out what are the problems and solutions from those in the trenches.
