Given that I am always looking for more work to do , I would say it is heavily on the life side as opposed to the work side
It depends on your department, but for IT it is good.
What's the interview process like at Ellie Mae?
Takes too long.
Interviews are normally technology focuses with a heavy bend on Culture Fit. You should expect to whiteboard solutions, potentially write code with a peer, and interview with 4-5 people.

You need to be able to work about 20 hrs a week

The biggest issue I had was never having enough work to do. As a developer I and other brought this up many times. We were not allowed to work on things in the backlog for reasons I still don't understand. I can appreciate that we wouldnt want to necessarily want to check that work in but getting paid to sit on my hands serves nobody
