  • Work-life balance is very important to Atlassian's values. Everyone works really hard, but I've experienced that people really respect your work hours vs. life hours (since we work with teammates all around the world) and vacation time. You have to set boundaries and be responsible for your own work-life balance, but your team and manager will support you in that.

  • Great

  • Overall quite good -- I can work from home when I need to, come in late or leave early to take care of my family, etc. I feel respected as a person. Folks do push hard in crunch times, which is healthy and all software companies should have them (I've worked in "no urgency/leisure lifestyle companies", and that feels as crappy as being overworked). Overall, though, this is the most balanced company I've worked at in my 20 years in tech.

  • Currículos de Melhores Profissionais

Awesome. I'm a huge fan of the "unlimited vacation days + within reason + encouraging folks culturally to actually take time off" way of handling PTO. Makes a huge difference in my quality of life.

  • Excellent. It's untracked so you have to be disciplined about actually taking it, but there is no set limit. Just take it when you want it but be reasonable. Most people take 3-4 weeks per year.

  • The general criticism that unlimited vacation policies mean that employees don't take enough vacation does NOT apply to Atlassian – people take time off, and work-life balance is part of Atlassian's core values. I have never felt pressured to not take time off when I need it.

  • The recruiters tell you that you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. You could honestly wear a hoodie or a suit; somewhere in the middle (business casual) is probably smartest, but I don't think anyone really cares that much.

  • Yes, though it's usually folks who have been here for a while then move away from an office location, rather than new hires.

  • Very few. I believe there are some on the Trello team as that was their culture prior to acquisition.

  • The perks can be kind of cliche sometimes to the point of being obnoxious (think episodes of HBO's Silicon Valley) but what keeps me here is they genuinely care about their employees and shows more than any other company I've ever worked for. The experiences I've had with management, all the way from middle to upper is that they are all good people who want to do right by their employees.

  • Open plan. Desks are small so you're pretty much shoulder to shoulder with your peers, and it gets noisy, occasionally feels like someone is sitting on your shoulder while they converse with your neighbor. Noise cancelling headphones are highly recommended. They attempt to mitigate this by having common spaces / quiet areas around the office. There are also single person offices (eg. phone booth offices) available on a first come first serve basis. Some offices have specific "no talking" rooms that are sound proofed.

  • Fewer meetings, less design by committee, re-instate 20% time, increase internal mobility options by allowing more remote workers, replace open plan offices in favor of small 2-3 person offices with doors (it can get really loud here).
