I think people really like Eric. Eric cares a lot about the company, it's something he built with his own hands. But Eric has a very internal process - he gets up in front of the company here and there, but those meetings are about updates or generalizations. You don't REALLY see him on the daily basis very often and he trusts his VPs to do their jobs. The only problem with that is that his VPs aren't always great, so it seems like he has a rose-colored glasses view of the company culture and doesn't have an accurate view of what people are feeling on the ground floor.
