The biggest flag when I’m interviewing candidates at Capital One is when they mention they’re looking for something “stable”. The leadership, like its talent and direct reports, are whip-smart and world-class former consultants/Fortune 100 alumni, so they set the bar high. Some of the best managers I’ve ever had have been here at Capital One, but there’s also an expectation that you also speak up (and back up) for what you want to do/focus on in your development. Of course there’s always the regular ol’ corporate politics the broader and higher up you go — but all in all, the leaders/managers here are some of the greatest I’ve had.
