
The company as a whole is on the cutting edge of big data analytics. They also support involvement and use of open source software. However, how innovative your work is depends on your team and your manager. There is no single Capital One culture. More or less Directors and Sr Managers define the culture for the team under them. If you land with a team that is risk averse, you might have lot of constraints on you. Also, it depends on your Product Owner. Some teams have very hands off Pod. Some teams have micromanaging Pod. Some POs are very forward looking. Some aren't. You do not have any control over who your manager is, too. There is frequent reorgs happening at the middle management level. This means that one year you may have lit of freedom to innovate, and the next year, you may be stuck in politics.
Rather innovative at the expense of their employees.
