Dr. Steven Aragon has been the Chief Operating Officer of CVD Equipment Corporation since October 20, 2014. Dr. Aragon was a Co-founder of Optimus Energy Systems International Inc. and served as its Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering. Prior to his service at Optimus Energy Systems International, he served as Vice President of Engineering at Stion Corporation since June 3, 2008. He served as the Vice President of Engineering at Daystar Technologies Inc. since July 1, 2004. He has over 25 years of chemical science and materials expertise in the areas of chemical physics, spectroscopic detection and diagnostics, vacuum system design, plasma source design and process development, thin film device manufacture and electronic, optical and magnetic materials development. Prior to joining DayStar, Dr. Aragon served as Program Manager of DC Plasma Power Products at Advanced Energy Industries. While at Advanced Energy, he was primarily responsible for the design, development and implementation of new product platforms and directed all elements of engineering design projects. Dr. Aragon also served as Director of Process Engineering and Applications at SciVac/Optcom, where he provided technical leadership in the areas of magnetron source design, reactive sputter process development, DWDM thin film filter manufacturing, flat panel display and DVD materials development. He served as a Process Applications Manager of Vacuum Systems Division of Intevac, Inc. Dr. Aragon established its state-of-the-art Applications Research Center, consisting of the world's most advanced MDP technology in a class 10 pilot line; and managed all Intevac MDP process support activities for customers in Japan, Korean, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the United States. He also been granted two patents by the U.S. Patent Office: one entitled 'Inverted-Field Circular Magnetron Sputter Device' (Patent USP 6146509) and one entitled 'Sputter Coating System and Method Using Substrate Electrode' (Patent 5891311). Dr. Aragon received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California in 1990, an MBA in Finance from Santa Clara University in 1996, a MS degree in Chemistry from the University of California and a BA degree in Chemistry from the University of Northern Colorado.
