Dr. Bruce M. Spiegelman, Ph.D., has been a Professor of Cell Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & Harvard Medical School since 1991. Dr. Spiegelman joined Harvard Medical School and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as an Assistant Professor. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2002. He served as the Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board, Member of Scientific Advisory Board and Director at Ember Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Spiegelman has been a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Araios, Inc. since December 2003. He serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Acceleron Pharma Inc. and CytRx Laboratories Inc. of CytRx Corporation. He also served as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at Elixir Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Agios Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Spiegelman is the Recipient of the Heinrich Wieland Prize for Lipid Research from the University of Munich, the Rolf Luft Award from the Karolinska Institute, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Award for Outstanding Achievement in Metabolic Research and the Elliot P. Joslin Medal for Diabetes Research. Dr. Spiegelman holds a B.S. with highest honors from the College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. from Princeton University. His graduate work was immediately followed by postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Luciano Rossetti, M.D. serves as the Head of Global Research and Development at EMD Serono, Inc. Dr. Rossetti serves as Global Head of Research & Development and Executive Vice President at Merck Serono S.A. He has been Global Head of Research & Development for Biopharmaceutical Division and Executive Vice President at Merck KGaA since July 21, 2014. He served as Senior Vice President Late Stage Development at Merck Sharp & Dohme, or MSD. He was responsible for the entire clinical development from Phase II to Phase V across all therapeutic areas. At MSD, he played a key role in shaping and implementing the development strategy of several potential breakthrough compounds such as Anti PD-1. He also restructured the clinical genetics group to better leverage the collaboration between discovery and clinical development. Mr. Rossetti served as Senior Vice President of Merck & Co., Inc. and Franchise Head of Diabetes and Obesity Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) for Merck & Co., Inc. since September 1, 2006. Dr. Rossetti joined MRL after 18 years at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in the Bronx, New York, where he served as Professor of Medicine and Professor of Molecular Pharmacology, while holding the Judy R. and Alfred A. Rosenberg Endowed Chair in Diabetes Research. Since 2002, he also served as the Director of Einstein Diabetes Research Center. In this newly-created position, Mr. Rossetti has overall responsibility for scientific direction across the drug discovery and development process for Merck & Co., Inc.'s key therapeutic areas of diabetes and obesity. Dr. Rossetti serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at CytRx Laboratories Inc., a Subsidiary of CytRx Corporation. In 2000, Dr. Rossetti received the Prestigious Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award of the American Diabetes Association in recognition of groundbreaking research in diabetes that demonstrates independence of thought and originality. This award is sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company and he presented the Lilly Lecture, entitled 'The Dialogue between Fat and Brain: Its Role in Nutrient Sensing and Insulin Resistance.' Dr. Rossetti has made major contributions to the understanding of the biochemical and molecular mechanism mediating the sensing of nutrients and, more recently, the role of leptin in the regulation of glucose and fat metabolism. He is an expert in the application of molecular genetics and pharmacological approaches to studies on appetite control by the hypothalamus. He holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Trieste University Medical School, Italy. Dr. Rossetti received his Medical Training at Trieste University Medical School, and completed his intern/residence in internal medicine at Rome University Medical School in Italy. He also carried out Postdoctoral Research in the Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Endocrinology, at Yale University Medical School in New Haven, Connecticute.
