Mr. Edward J. Matey, Jr., also known as Ed, J.D., has been an Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Gramercy Property Trust Inc. since April 2009 and its Secretary since April 2013. Prior to joining Gramercy in April 2008, Mr. Matey served as Executive Vice President of American Financial Realty Trust since April 1, 2005 and served as it General Counsel since October 2002. He served as Senior Vice President of American Financial Realty Trust from October 2002 to April 1, 2005. He served as Chief Executive Officer of American Financial Realty Trust since April 1, 2005. Mr. Matey served as Co-President of American Financial Realty Trust until November 2007. From October 1991 to September 2002, he served as Partner in the law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP where his practice focused on real estate law, including property acquisition and disposition, commercial leasing, construction contracting and complex financings. From 1986 to September 1991, Mr. Matey served as an Associate of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and from 1982 to 1986, he served as an Associate of Clark, Ladner, Fortenbaugh & Young. Active in professional organizations, Mr. Matey is a Member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar Association and a Member of the Real Property Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. For his last three years at Morgan Lewis, he led the team of attorneys that represented AFRG and its related entities in the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of real estate properties. Mr. Matey is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Matey received his Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia and a Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law.
