You know your technology and are expected to be an expert in it. You are not allowed to grow or expect to be anywhere in 5 years other than where you are. You know your technology and that is where you will stay. If they change your technology then you also will be removed for the new outside trainged expert. No internal training and no internal promotion. Unless you are in the executive rotation program. All others die in the role they started in.
