Communication from upper management down to the rest of the company.
Individual people were friendly and laidback. Wasn't difficult at all. Not very challenging as long as you researched the company.
I love my team (molecular biology). Great humble people, and very bright too. Other teams are great. Upper management is a completely different story though...
The people are great all around: smart, friendly, collaborative. I got to know a couple outside of work. Work life balance is good. Only downside are the office politics and bureaucracy from upper management.
Intrexon Corporation pays under the market salaries compared to other biotech companies in the SF Bay Area. I have been at the company for almost 2 years but did not get a raise, promotion, or bonus despite promises by my manager.
UPPER MANAGEMENT. People at top are problematic and aren't good at communicating. On January 2020 about 30 employees were laid off without any reasoning and without any notice. Back track 2 weeks prior when there was an "all hands" meeting and our HR director said no worries about more lay offs.
