Mr. Jeffrey Alan Tanner, also known as Jeff, has been an Executive Vice President of Geosciences and Business Development at Jones Energy, Inc. since August 4, 2016. Mr. Tanner served as an Executive Vice President of Geosciences at Jones Energy, Inc., since 2014 until August 4, 2016. Mr. Tanner served as Vice President of Exploration of Southwestern Energy Co. He served as Senior Vice President of Geosciences of Jones Energy, Inc. since September 2014. He has over 27 years of diverse technical and managerial experience in the oil and gas business. He served as Vice President of Geosciences Technology & Exploration for Permian at Laredo Petroleum, Inc. and Laredo Petroleum Holdings, Inc. since October 2010. He served as Vice President of Exploration at Laredo Petroleum, LLC and its subsidiary Laredo Petroleum, Inc., since October 2010. Mr. Tanner began his career in 1987 as a Geologist for Shell Oil Company in Houston working exploration projects in the onshore Gulf Coast and Mid-Continent regions. He joined Samedan Oil Company (Noble Energy) in 1991 to work the offshore Gulf of Mexico (GOM) shelf and deepwater. His work resulted in a number of exploration discoveries, with the most notable being a joint venture with Chevron that brought in eight new fields collectively known as the Viosca Knoll Carbonate Trend that marked the first commercial discovery offshore from the prolific Cretaceous-age James Lime. From 2001 to 2003, he served as Lead Geologist to Noble's Deep Water GOM business unit. His efforts had resulted in the two largest producing assets for Noble in both the shelf and deep water GOM. Mr. Tanner joined Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation in 2003 to initiate in-house exploration efforts in the offshore GOM. He was responsible for building a notable inventory of prospects and evaluating industry proposals, as well as hiring key geoscience personnel. Since 2005, he served as an Exploration Manager of Cabot's West Region in Denver to oversee expansion into unconventional plays. He was transferred to Cabot's South Region in 2009 as Exploration Manager of East Texas to supervise existing horizontal development trends and to expand their presence in the Haynesville shale gas play. Mr. Tanner graduated from Texas A&M in 1984 with a Bachelor Degree in Geology and received his graduate degree from the University of Houston in 1987.
