Mr. Paul S. Pearlman serves as Managing Partner of Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP. Mr. Pearlman's practice area includes Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy. Mr. Pearlman focuses on corporate finance matters, advising clients on bank financings and securities offerings for publicly and privately held entities, including financing related to mergers and acquisitions transactions, such as leveraged buyout. His leveraged buyout experience over the past 15 years has included representing LBO sponsors, management and providers of debt financing. Among his LBO transactions are the acquisitions of MicroWarehouse, The Ohio Mattress Company, Twin Laboratories, Inc., Wells Aluminum Corporation and Rival Manufacturing Corporation. Mr. Pearlman is also involved in its Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice. His recent representations include the prepackaged bankruptcy of Kash N' Karry Food Stores, Inc., and the representation of creditors' committees or individual large creditors in the SLM International, Inc., Marvel Entertainment, MobileMedia and Paging Network bankruptcies. Mr. Trachtman has been one of the principal litigators on behalf of breast implant tort claimants in the Dow Corning bankruptcy, helping to fashion and obtain judicial approval for a $3.17 billion settlement. He has played active roles in bankruptcy or class action litigation involving asbestos, diet drugs, and other products. He also helped lead a team of lawyers that obtained a $90 million recovery in a contract and securities fraud action arising out of a failed merger between Gulf Oil and Cities Service Corp. Mr. Trachtman is Chair of Kramer Levin's Pro Bono Committee and has litigated extensively in the areas of Social Security disability and civil rights and civil liberties. He has been a regular presenter at the annual Law Firm Pro Bono Conference of the Pro Bono Institute and has written articles and commentary on legal and public policy issues for such publications as The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Newsday, and The National Law Journal.
