Dr. Praveen Tyle, Ph.D. has been Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since May 16, 2016. Dr. Tyle serves as Member of Executive Board at Rapid Pharmaceuticals AG. He joined Lexicon with more than 30 years of pharmaceutical industry experience of advancing new medical device and drug candidate pipelines to commercial success. He led and completed the successful merger of Vertical Pharmaceuticals and Trigen Laboratories with Osmotica Holdings in February 2016. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Osmotica Pharmaceutical Corp. since January 2013 until 2016. He served as the Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Osmotica Pharmaceutical Corp. from October 15, 2012 to January 2013. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Osmotica Holdings. He served as Senior Advisor at Arsenal Capital Partners, Inc. He served as the Chief Science Officer of The United States Pharmacopeial Convention, Inc. since November 2011. He served as Executive Vice President of the United States Pharmacopeia. Dr. Tyle served as the Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of Research & Development of Bausch & Lomb Incorporated. since July 19, 2004. Dr. Tyle focused in areas including vision care (lens and lens care), pharmaceuticals (prescription, OTC, generics, nutritionals), and surgical (refractive and cataract). He is also responsible for all of Bausch & Lomb's preclinical development programs, product development efforts and clinical, medical and regulatory affairs and quality assurance. Dr. Tyle joined Bausch & Lomb from Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. (also known as Biovail Corporation), where he served as Group Vice President of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Manufacturing since June 5, 2003. Dr. Tyle has 30 years of drug development and commercialization experience. He worked nearly four years at Pharmacia Corporation, where he served as Vice President and Global Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He served as Senior Vice President & Global Head of Research & Development and business development and licensing Novartis OTC. Dr. Tyle began his professional career as a formulations research chemist in drug delivery research with American Cynamid Company (now Wyeth), moving on to executive leadership and scientific positions with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis), Agouron Pharmaceuticals (now Pfizer) and Aronex Pharmaceuticals (now Antigenics). Since 1999, he served as Vice President of Pharmaceutical sciences at U.S., Pharmacia & Upjohn (now Pfizer). Dr. Tyle has been a Director of Eyegate Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since June 2008. He serves as an Independent Director of Orient Europharma Co., Ltd., Taiwan and Interpath Pharmaceuticals, Houston. He serves as Director of GrayBug, LLC and Yolia Health. Dr. Tyle has been a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Vioquest Pharmaceuticals Inc. since August 1, 2006. He serves as Member of the Council of Healthcare Advisors, the advisory board of Oakland University Center for Biomedical Research and is a Scientific Advisor to CB Health Ventures of Boston and Epimmune Inc., of San Diego. He served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Vela Pharmaceuticals Inc. He served as a Board Member of Osmotica Holdings. He served as a Director of Osmotica Pharmaceutical Corp. since January 2013 until 2016. Dr. Tyle serves as adjunct professor at Howard University and the University of Rochester Medical Center. He holds academician appointments as an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island and at the University of Houston, Texas. He is Editor of seven books about drug development, holds several patents and is author of more than 130 technical and scientific papers and presentations. He received the Distinguished Alumni award from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Tyle has been honored as a distinguished research fellow by the Shandong Pharmaceutical Research Institute, China. Dr. Tyle received a Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Ohio State University in 1984 and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in India in 1980.
