Mr. Frederick G. Thiel, also known as Fred, has been the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Local Corporation since May 7, 2014 and January 13, 2014 respectively. Mr. Thiel is responsible for general oversight of the operations and management of both public and private companies. He is an Advisor on Software and Information Technology Sector at B+B SmartWorx Inc. (also known as B&B Electronics Manufacturing Company Inc.). Mr. Thiel serves as a Senior Advisor at Graham Partners. Mr. Thiel was an Advisor on Software and Information Technology Sector at Triton Pacific Capital Partners, LLC and previously he was an Operating Partner at Graham Partners since 2008. He served as a Managing Partner of Software and Information Technology Group at Triton Pacific Capital Partners, LLC from 2007 to December 2012. Mr. Thiel is a highly successful serial entrepreneur, Chief Executive Officer, Board Member, and Venture Investor. He has over 25 years of operating experience leading companies. His deep industry expertise includes Internet of Things, M2M (machine to machine communications), Big Data software, enterprise software, wired and wireless data networking and communications, data storage, industrial automation, internet media, internet marketing, and systems integration. As the Chief Executive Officer, he led companies through rapid growth to IPO, re-positioned companies for high value exits to strategic and financial acquirers, led mergers and acquisitions and roll-up strategies, as well as successfully executed corporate turnarounds. He has deep technology industry expertise, strategic advice on generating growth and shareholder value, acquisition strategy development and execution, as well as experience in exit strategy development and execution. For 8 years Mr. Thiel has worked with private equity and venture capital firms in the roles of Managing Partner and Independent Operating Partner and Senior Advisor to build and execute investment theses, source and execute acquisitions, build management teams, and drive growth in both revenues and shareholder value. He served as a Venture Partner at Ventana Capital Management, LLC. He served as the Chief Executive Officer at several companies including GameSpy Industries, Inc. from January 2002 to January 2003, where he turned around, nearly doubled revenues in 12 months, and sold for an industry-leading multiple. Since April 1998, Mr. Thiel served as the Chief Executive Officer and President at Lantronix, Inc. Mr. Thiel has conceptualized, developed, and launched three online ventures. Previously, he was Founder and Managing Partner at TechStarter Ventures. Previously, Mr. Thiel founded Helium Web Works to execute compelling internet related business ventures and develop new online technologies focusing in the areas of Web 2.0, social networking, on-line media, Enterprise 2.0, and SaaS. Mr. Thiel sits on a number of public and private corporate boards and mentors management teams of promising new companies. He served as a Director of Lantronix, Inc. since May 2000 and Patriot Scientific Corporation since February 1999. He is a member of WPO and was Chapter Chairman of the YPO California Coast chapter.
