Mr. Tung-Jung Hsieh, also known as Louis, has been Senior Adviser to the Chief Executive Officer of New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. since January 5, 2016. Mr. Hsieh served as the President of New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. from May 18, 2009 to 2016 and served as its Chief Financial Officer from December 2005 to 2015. He was a Partner of UBS Capital. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of ARIO Data Networks, Inc. from April 2004 to December 2005. He has 4 years Chief Financial Officer experience in China and USA, 7 years Private Equity and Investment Banking experience and 7 years General Counsel and Securities and Corporate Law experience. He has played a key role in more than 50 private equity financings, technology IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial banking transactions. Prior to that, he served as Managing Director for the private equity firm of Darby Asia Investors (HK) Limited from 2002 to 2003. From 2000 to 2002, he served as Managing Director and Asia-Pacific Head of Technology, Media and Telecom Head (TMT) for UBS Capital Asia Pacific, the private equity division of UBS AG. He was actively involved with portfolio companies in operational and financial roles, including acting Chief Financial Officer for a China-based technology company. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a Technology Investment Banker of JP Morgan in San Francisco, California and served as its Vice President and West Coast Head of Internet investment banking. He was with Credit Suisse First Boston in Palo Alto, California and served as its Associate, focused on semiconductors and hardware. From 1990 to 1996, he served as a Senior Corporate and Financial Services Attorney of White & Case LLP in Los Angeles. He serves as a Director of United Information Technologies. He has been an Independent Director of Yum China Holding, Inc. since October 31, 2016. Mr. Hsieh has been an Independent Director of New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. since 2005, Nord Anglia Education, Inc. since August 17, 2016 and JD.com, Inc. since May 2014. He served as an Independent Director of LDK Solar Co., Ltd. from May 31, 2007 to July 2011, China Digital TV Holding Co. Ltd. from October 2007 to December 2009 and Perfect World Co. Ltd. from July 25, 2007 to October 2009. He is a Member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. Mr. Hsieh holds a BS Degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University, an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and a J.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley Boalt Law School.
