Mr. Jay M. Tannon is Partner at DLA Piper US LLP. Mr. Tannon also serves as a Partner and General Counsel at Novus Energy Partners. He helps lead the infrastructure and private capital practice at Patton Boggs LLP. As a partner at Patton Boggs, Mr. Tannon counsels private equity funds and other businesses on infrastructure projects, business acquisitions and other strategic transactions. He previously worked for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP as a Partner. Mr. Tannon is a member of Pillsbury Winthrop's corporate and securities, international trade and private equity practice sections and leads the firm's business practice in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. He served as a Partner of Cadence Infrastructure, LLC. He is a former Corporate Partner and Chair of the International Transactions and Government Relations practices at Frost Brown Todd LLC, has joined Pillsbury Winthrop's Northern Virginia office as a partner. Mr. Tannon is a leading corporate practitioner and has counseled U.S., Canadian, Australian, European, and other domestic and international businesses, both public and private, on acquisitions, joint ventures, direct investments, product distribution and licensing arrangements. He has also served as general business counsel to many companies based outside the United States. Mr. Tannon is a three-term chair of the Kentucky World Trade Center, a member of the Services Advisory Committee for the U.S. Trade Representative, and immediate past Chair of the U.S. Department of Commerce District Export Council for Kentucky. He served as a Director at Cadence Infrastructure, LLC and Vivao. He is also active in numerous other civic, professional and philanthropic organizations and helped launch a new U.S.-China commercial mediation service. Mr. Tannon is widely published on issues relating to U.S. and international trade and transactional matters. He has been selected for 20 consecutive years as a Preeminnent Attorney by Martindale Hubbell, and he has been recognized for many years by the legal services industry publication Best Lawyers in America. He received a J.D. from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the University of Louisville, and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina. He has participated in academic programs at Harvard University, Georgetown University, and the University of Toronto.
