Mr. Jack L. Kopnisky serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Sterling National Bank. Mr. Kopnisky has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Sterling Bancorp since July 6, 2011. He serves as a Partner of Mercatus LLC. He served as a Senior Partner at White Oak Partners, Inc. He also served as the Chief Executive Officer, President and the Chief Operating Officer at First Marblehead Corporation from September 2005 to August 31, 2008. He served as the Chief Executive Officer since September 27, 2005 and its President and Chief Operating Officer since September 6, 2005. He has spent more than 30 years in the financial services industry in a variety of executive operating roles. Over the course of his executive career, he has helped businesses achieve record profit levels through growth, restructuring and repositioning strategies. At First Marblehead, he led wide-scale restructuring which doubled revenues and earnings from 2005 to 2007. He served as the President of Consumer Banking Group at KeyCorp (Key) from June 2000 to August 2005 and as such held overall responsibility for the sale and distribution of all products and services through three group divisions: retail banking, business banking and consumer finance. He was also responsible for Key's community development banking activities. He served as Senior Executive Vice President-Consumer Banking at KeyCorp from 2001 to July 31, 2005. He held full P&L responsibility for a $65 billion business portfolio, helping KeyCorp to build one of the largest operating networks in the U.S., and become an industry leader in customer relationship management and people, process and technology integration. He served as the President of Retail Banking at KeyCorp and President and Chief Executive Officer of Key Investments. Before joining KeyCorp, he served as s Regional and District President at Society Corporation of Cleveland and District Manager at Pittsburgh National Bank. Prior to being named the President of Key Consumer Banking, Mr. Kopnisky held various executive positions within that bank that included mergers and acquisitions, development of human resource tactics and strategies for enhanced performance. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of KeyBank USA's Consumer Finance Business, including auto, recreation, mortgage, home equity and educational lending. From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Kopnisky served as the President of Key's Cincinnati market. Prior to Key, he was with Ameritrust and Pittsburgh National Bank. Mr. Kopnisky has been Director of Sterling Bancorp and Sterling National Bank since July 6, 2011. He served as a Director of First Marblehead Corp. from November 9, 2006 to August 31, 2008. He also served as a Member of KeyCorp's Executive Council and Management Committee. Mr. Kopnisky has served as the Chairman and served on many non-profit boards throughout his career focused on inner city development and youth services. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Grove City College and is an active supporter of Summer Search. He holds a Business Administration and Economics degree from Grove City College. Mr. Kopnisky also attended the Case Western Reserve's Executive Program at Weatherhead School of Business and the University of Delaware's Stonier Banking School.
