Dr. Marc Rubin, M.D., has been an Executive Chairman of Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since May 2009. Dr. Rubin founded Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and served as its Chief Executive Officer and President from October 1, 2007 to December 2008. Dr. Rubin is a Biopharmaceutical Consultant. He joined Titan in October 2007. He served as a Member of Executive Board at Bayer Pharma AG from October 1, 2003 to February 2007 and its Member of Board of Management from September 14, 2006 to January 2007 and also served as its Head of Global Research and Development from June 2006 to February 2007. Prior to his position at Bayer Schering Pharma, he served as Member of the Executive Board and President of Development for Schering AG from October 2003 to June 2006. He served as Senior Staff at the National Institutes of Health from 1986 to 1989. He served as President of Berlex Pharmaceuticals, a division of Schering AG. Before joining Schering AG, from 1990 to August 2003, Dr. Rubin employed by GlaxoSmithKline where he held positions of responsibility in global clinical and commercial development overseeing programs in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America and served as its Director of Infectious Diseases Clinical Research in the USA since 1990 and he served as Senior Vice President of Global Clinical Pharmacology & Discovery Medicine from 2001 to 2003. He has been Chairman of Galectin Therapeutics, Inc. since January 8, 2016 and as its Director since October 12, 2011 and also served as its Lead Independent Director from June 2015 to January 8, 2016. He served as the Chairman of Titan Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Schering Berlin Inc. Dr. Rubin has been an Independent Director of Curis, Inc. since June 2010. He serves as a Director of The Rogosin Institute, Inc. He has been a Director of Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since November 1, 2007 and Gemmus Pharma Inc. since August 1, 2012. He served as a Director of Surface Logix, Inc. He served as an Executive Director of Bayer Schering Pharma AG since July 7, 2003. Dr. Rubin served as a Director of Medarex, Inc. from November 2007 to September 2009. He completed his clinical training in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and in 1986, subspecialty training in both oncology and infectious disease at the National Institutes of Health, where he remained in a Senior Staff position till 1989. Dr. Rubin did his undergraduate work at Cornell University and Cornell University Medical College, New York and holds an M.D. Degree from the Cornell University Medical College in 1980.
